We really focused on how to use the different selection tools this week in 8th grade art. Each student created a silhouette image of their face in Photoshop then used the selection tools to copy pictures of thing that related to them. The students had to use the selection shape marquee tool, the lasso, magnetic lasso, and magic wand in this lesson as well as arrange their layers. They really developed an understanding of this crucial concept and created awesome self-portraits!

Amaziograph App
My art classes have been displaced for two weeks while my computers and room are used for testing. When given lemons, make lemonade! We took the ipad cart to the lobby and explored the world of symmetry through the Amaziograph App. The students made works using lines and mirrored and rotational symmetry as well as through tile and hexagon repetition. They had some great results!

Paint Brush Tool
We are learning to use the paint brush tool in Photoshop. The students are exploring how you can manipulate the size, texture, opacity, and value of the paint brush. Understanding the workings of the brush carries over to many other tools, such as the eraser, clone stamp, and the dodge and burn tools. Here are some student examples.
